Release what no longer serves you by conducting a full moon ritual.
This full moon ritual will help you reflect and learn how to let go of limiting beliefs.
You’ll embrace the energy of the moon and your own personal energy as you practice gratitude.
What the Full Moon Represents
The Full Moon represents completion and growth.
During this time, the moon is fully illuminated and shines bright in our night sky.
Like the moon at this phase, we too should celebrate our growth and allow ourselves to believe that we can glow just as bright.
A full moon is one of the primary moon phases.
Since this phase represents completion, I recommend first learning how to set intentions with the new moon.
If you still want to have your own Full Moon Ritual, don’t worry! You can still celebrate the full moon even if you didn’t have a chance to set intentions with the new moon.
Moving forward, I highly recommend creating your new moon and full moon rituals to enhance your spiritual journey.

Why You Should Have a Full Moon Ritual
Having a ritual not only allows you to channel the energy of the full moon, but it also allows you to channel your personal energy.
Once you’ve channeled your internal energy, you can take control and enhance it by intertwining it with the energy you receive from the moon herself.
This ritual will lead you to embrace your spirituality, and you may find yourself enhancing your self care throughout the moon cycle as well.
Cleansing and Charging with the Full Moon
Releasing by Removing Negative Energies
The first step to releasing with the Full Moon is to release any negative or stagnant energy in your home, your body, and your mind.
Enjoy a refreshing bath dedicated to the full moon, and practice meditation to clear your thoughts.
To prepare for the Full Moon, clean up your environment, and consider sound healing or smoke cleansing.
I typically like to use incense to cleanse, but at times, I do use sound healing by playing music with frequencies specific to the energy I want to invite.
Sound is created by vibrational frequencies, and the healing begins when these frequencies are tuned to create peaceful energy and soundwaves.
Meditative Mind explains the different sound healing frequencies and their benefits: Benefits of Music based on 7 Solfeggio Frequencies
Using instruments is the best way to use frequencies to heal your space. However, this may not be easily available to you.
Luckily, with the power of the internet, you can get somewhat of a similar effect by playing music through technology.
Here are some videos I like to play whenever I heal the energies of my environment with sound:
- PowerThoughts Meditation Club: 528Hz – Whole Body Regeneration – Full Body Healing | Emotional & Physical Healing
- Meditation and Healing: 432 Hz – Deep Healing Music for The Body & Soul – DNA Repair, Relaxation Music, Meditation Music
- Meditative Mind: 🦋 THE BUTTERFLY EFFECT ⁂ Elevate your Vibration ⁂ Positive Aura Cleanse ⁂ 432Hz Music
Our mindset is a powerful tool, and it can allow us to manifest our greatest desires.
Manifesting is when our thoughts transform into reality.
It is linked with the universal Law of Attraction, where a positive mindset attracts a positive outcome.
For more information on manifestation, see my post on the Magic of Manifesting: Turn Dreams Into Reality.
Although our mindset is powerful enough to manifest reality, it’s not always the easiest to take control of our focus.
Our minds naturally produce millions of thoughts at lightspeed, even if only a few are more apparent to our conscious mind.
So how can we bring our mindset to focus on what we want?
Our actions allow us to intercept our thought processes. What we physically do greatly impacts our mind as our thoughts then shift focus on the task at hand.
This is where smoke cleansing comes into play.
By adding this into your ritual, you can easily visualize the smoke removing stagnant and negative energy from your environment.
While I use incense to smoke cleanse, there are other alternatives to conduct smoke cleansing as part of your full moon ritual.
Before you start to add this into your rituals, I highly recommend learning about the histories, traditions, and cultural appropriation of using smudging techniques as a form of cleansing.
See Smoke Cleansing as an Appropriate Alternative to Smudging by Val Elkhorn in The Alchemist’s Kitchen.
Val Elkhorn does an amazing job at explaining what smudging is, its cultural history, the differences between smudging and smoke cleansing, and respectful alternatives you can use to smoke cleanse if you are not Indigenous.
Charging Tools Under the Moonlight
The Full Moon is the best phase to charge your spiritual tools under the moonlight.
It’s important to first understand that you may charge your tools during any phase of the moon.
This is because the moon’s internal energy never changes.
Along with the moon’s gravitational pull, her energy is extremely powerful as it influences all of the earth’s inhabitants.
While the moon does have various phases, this is due to the location of the moon and our perspective of the sun’s reflection.
While the moon carries her own power, the reflection of the sun’s rays based on the moon’s location is what changes the additional energy sent to us.
With the full moon, we are graced with both power emanating from the moon herself and the power of the sun reflected towards us.
Use this full moon to create moon water and charge any crystals, candles, or anything you use on your spiritual journey.
Reflecting on Your Goal Progress
The first primary moon phase of every cycle starts with the New Moon.
This phase represents new beginnings, and many use this time to set intentions with the new moon.
A New Moon Ritual typically includes manifesting by writing down goals one wishes to complete by the next new moon.
If you had previously set new moon intentions to reach your goals, use this time with the full moon to reflect on what has happened so far.
- Did you complete any of the goals you listed?
- Are you close to reaching certain goals?
- If so, push through with the power of the full moon! Allow her energy to flow into you and aid you towards completion.
- Which goals are you far from completing and why?
Understand What Isn’t Working
Once you reach the last question, try to understand why you were far from completing your goal.
Continue to reflect on a deeper level to learn what may be holding you back from success.
It may be more than just how you manage your time. There may be a possibility that your obstacle is your current limiting beliefs.
While consciously you may believe you truly want something, your subconscious may be holding you back from achieving what you desire.
It’s easy to fear the unknown of reaching a goal, so you should try envisioning your life as if you’ve already accomplished this.
Once you’ve pinpointed what isn’t working, reflect on how you can let go of it to overcome obstacles and manifest your dreams.
Releasing What Doesn’t Serve You
Specify What To Let Go as of this Full Moon
In addition to what you came up with above that isn’t helping towards your goal, figure what else has not been serving you in life.
Note any toxic behaviors or habits you wish to release. Jot down any people or material items want to rid yourself of.
Focus on the betterment of yourself when determining what to release as of this full moon.
Full Moon Ritual Activities to Symbolize Release
As I’ve explained above, our actions can greatly influence our mind.
With your list of habits, people, limiting beliefs, and more, envision yourself releasing all listed from your life.
Tear the paper into shreds or if you can safely light the paper on fire, you may do this as well.
Focusing your mindset on releasing that which no longer serves you may still leave some build-up of energy.
Find balance by having this ritual be followed with an activity that can help you express your emotions.
You may write your feelings in a journal in a stream of consciousness type of style.
Other ways you may express and release the additional energies are by singing, dancing, working out, and even playing videogames – like exerting emotion on Super Smash Bros to release.
Showing Gratitude For Your Life
After releasing what no longer serves you, take this time to be grateful for all in your life that is going right.
By focusing on what you currently have, you’ll be able to appreciate the moment and ‘live in the now.’
Since the full moon represents completion and growth, it is not a time to look forward to what you haven’t yet achieved or received.
Instead, be proud of all you have already completed and grateful for how much you have grown in your personal journey.
I just want to say that I’m grateful for the moon, my family and friends, and you! Thank you for reading my work and supporting my blogging journey! 🥰
